It's about it: TOEM is not tapping long, but equips you right at the beginning with the essentials - a backpack and a somewhat in the years foto camera (with dynamic zoom!). Then the slightly mysterious farewell to home is already done and we fall into the adventure. The goal: the mountain peak on which the legendary and supernatural phenomenon toem awaits us. So start instead of waiting, because fit is the hit: We ask people what they need so, the first photos are almost like alone and flights we have a few stamps together.

Immediately noticeable, as decelerated, relaxed and fun of the core gameplayloop of TOEM is. TOEM is not just nice and pleasant, it's like a gone sigh of relief. Rarely it was so easy to drop. The small team of the developer studio Something We Made manages to give me a good feeling while playing. First and foremost, I played the photo adventure all the time with a thick grin in the face.

My heart had already conquered this little pearl, but admittedly when I found out at the beginning that I can stroke the cow. But even if you do not want to caress any animals and want to take pictures (what's wrong with you, your monster?), Can Toem exactly the right thing for you. Toem is full of mini-storys: You are constantly encountering any beings that tell a small, funny and heartwarming story. For example, you can go with a ghost to a date, with a fashion show in the design, compose a small song to indulge a majestic fish or help the lighthouse guard to warn ships.

The look: TOEM is completely black and white and works over busy small, rotatable dioramas, in which you can move more or less freely. The drawing style is relatively simple and rather functional, but exudes - like everything to toem - a very lovable charm. You may surprisingly pure and zoom out to keep the overview or look at your cool new accessories more precisely. Everything works like a cast and there are details at all corners and ends to discover details.

The sound: The music fits perfectly with the look and completes the pleasantly relaxed overall picture. Not a single track annoyed by the musicians Launchable socks, rum sound and Jamal Green, but only the fewest blatant are positive. You will release new unobtrusive pieces of music during the game, which you can also choose to select in your hiking woman (!). The sound effects sound just as funny and sympathetic as the whole rest.

Puzzles and gameplay remain rather shallow

No big challenge: Toem should obviously serve for relaxation and so also the tasks. This means that the puzzles usually are really not difficult and, above all, confine themselves to shooting the right photos or find things.

Sometimes that kindly kindly kindly assumes, and then it took something until I realized what exactly meant. There are also very light metroidvania approaches in TOEM, so you sometimes need certain clothes, for example, to continue to special bodies.

Although there is one or the other tricky challenge, but right headnuts should not be expected here. This makes toem overall for people exciting and entertaining, which are not a hardcore gamer or a few years younger. There is no multiplayer, but the phototour is also ideal by the charm and humor to be experienced together with others.

The German-language translation I felt very successful (speech issue there is no, just a bit of fantasy-goddogs), only a single word was probably simply forgotten (the photo album was full ). Maybe that's already done in the launch version.

Small, but fine: TOEM is exactly right from the length

You should not expect a crass mammoth in blockbuster format at Toem. There are next to the tutorial area at the beginning of four larger levels, each of which are divided into small dioramas: you visited a forest and mountain area, a region by the sea with the beach and hydroelectric power plant as well as a larger city and last but not least a wintry Ski Area.

Overall, the photo adventure is about three to five hours. Depending on how sess you are to really photograph all animals and help all people to find the very last stamp. Personally, I have seen the credits after just four hours and had only ten stamps not yet stamped in my stamp book ..

So toem can be easily played through an extended afternoon or two shorter evening sessions. For me, that's perfect for the relaxed rest. Although the parent major story is rather a bit poor, the pretty satisfying end acts as a very hearty as the entire game and should make sure you get warm around the heart.

There's something to complain? Only at a high level

In the largest diary, it came on the Nintendo Switch both in the handheld and docked mode to a slightly lower frame rate. This has not affected the game fun and flow in the slightest. With a possible day one patch, that could already be resolved directly to the launch. But even if not, that would not be bad either.

Otherwise, I have noticed exactly one bug: after the end was reached, I could not load the score to collect the last few stamps. That should actually go and already resolved, but the developers know and work on it.
